Codes and conventions of a Thriller

-increased suspense, audio and tension
-influenced by film noir and tradgedy, the compromised hero is often killed in the process
-dark and eerie atmosphere
-something unsettling
-placed an innocent victim into a strange, life threatening or terrorising situation

Sub Genres include:

-physcological
-mystery
-crime
-horror element

The above genres each have their own specific codes and conventions
Mise en scene includes - dim lighting, black and white(film noir), higher and lower angle shots and flashbacks.

Codes and conventions of a sit-com:

examples of sit coms:

-dads army
-porridge
-the royal family
-blackadder
-the office
-the young ones
-the inbetweeners

Conventions: (audiences expectations and thins you would expect from a sit-com)

-comedy comes from the dialogue

-stereotypes
-simple narrative

-canned laughter
